WORLD NO.1 Adam Scott showed why he is top of the pile on Sunday at the Crowne Plaza Invitational after beating Jason Dufner in a playoff in Texas.
After a sluggish opening round of 71, Scott had to claw his way back into contention and it culminated with the Aussie rolling in a seven-foot putt for birdie to win on the third playoff hole.
“It’s so satisfying in so many ways to get it done,” Scott said. “It’s a good feeling, and maybe some validation.
“Maybe added a little pressure for myself, trying to play like a No. 1. But I think the important thing was I realised that didn’t mean playing perfect, and I certainly didn’t play perfect all week.
“But the way you come back and get it done, and I felt like I certainly played like one of the best players in the world out there on the back nine.”
The win makes Scott the first player on the PGA Tour to win the ‘Texas Slam’ having won the Byron Nelson, Texas Open, Houston Open and this event.
