CHRIS KIRK claimed the biggest title of his career at the Deutsche Bank Championship, the second of four events in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, on Monday evening.
The 29-year-old American closed with a blemish-free final-round 66 to finish on 15-under and two shots clear of Billy Horschel, Russell Henley and Geoff Ogilvy.
Kirk now vaults to the top of the FedEx Cup standings narrowly ahead of World No.1 Rory McIlroy, who finished in a tie for fifth.
The Callaway staff player, who played his final 37 holes without a dropped shot, trusted the brand new Big Bertha V-Series driver, X2 Hot Pro fairway wood, RAZR X MB irons, Mack Daddy 2 wedges and Odyssey Versa Metal X-Milled #9 HT putter. Kirk also trusted the Titleist Pro V1x ball.
He ranked tied seventh in driving accuracy (75%) and first in strokes gained total (12.651).
"Obviously my biggest win ever and pretty crazy the two years I've had since switching to Callaway Golf," said Kirk, who will now hope he's done enough to gain one of three wildcard picks in Tom Watson's US Ryder Cup side on Tuesday evening.
"I've played the best golf of my life the last two years."
